PURPOSE:To provide a thermal transfer recording medium provided with a uniform smooth surface by stable coating and capable of printing with high quality on both smooth papers and rough papers, by incorporating a fluoro- surfactant into at least one of a heat-fusible layer and a thermoplastic layer. CONSTITUTION:A heat-fusible substance to be used is preferably one having a softening point of 25-120 deg.C, e.g., Japan wax, and is preferably used in an amount of not less than 50pts.wt. (more preferably, not less than 70pts.wt.) per 100pts.wt. of total amount of solid components of a heat-fusible layer. A thermoplastic polymer to be used is an ester gum or the like, and is preferably used in an amount of 50-95pts.wt. (more preferably, 50-90pts.wt.) per 100pts.wt. of the total amount of solid components of a thermoplastic layer. At least one of the two layers is provided by applying an aqueous coating material. A fluoro-surfactant is added to the heat-fisible layer preferably in an amount of 0.05-0.5% (more preferably, 0.1-0.3%) based on the total amount of the solid components of the layer, or is added to the thermoplastic layer preferably in an amount of 0.05-1% (more preferably, 0.2-0.8%) based on the total amount of the solid components of the layer. |
