PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of a difference in the levels of acid soln. and to prevent the deterioration of pickling efficiency by providing liquid draining means for the acid soln. carried along with a steel strip near steel strip supporting members such as skids provided to each of the divided cells of a pickling cell. CONSTITUTION:The pickling cell body 1 is segmented to the divided cells (a)-(d) by partitions 2, 2... having the skids. The acid soln. 4 overflowing from the divided cell (a) is passed through a treating device 10 and is returned to the divided cell (d) by a circulation pump 12 so as to flow down in the pickling cell body 1. While the steel strip 5 is immersed in the acid soln. 4 in the divided cells (a)-(d), the steel strip is passed in an arrow C direction and is thereby pickled. The liquid draining rolls 15 are disposed via baffle plates 16 near the skids provided to the top ends of the partitions 2 of the continuous type pickling device constituted in the above-mentioned manner. The acid soln. 4 carried along with the steel strip 5 is thereby drained, by which the inflow thereof into the divided cells on the down stream side is prevented and the amt. of the acid soln. to be held in the respective divided cells (a)-(d) is averaged. The deterioration of the pickling efficiency is thus prevented.
