PURPOSE:To make exact measurement and to permit housing of a detecting part without interference by a cord so as to make a titled instrument easier to use by separating the detecting part and display part and executing the transmission and reception of a measured value by electromagnetic waves. CONSTITUTION:A measuring means 13 of the detecting part 1 impresses an AC voltage of a small polarization effect to electrodes 11, 12, measures the electric resistance of a liquid 3 to be measured and outputs the inverse number thereof, i.e., electrical conductivity. A signal converting means 14 converts the output to a digital value and outputs the same as a serial signal train. The serial signal is transmitted as an electromagnetic wave by a transmission means 15. The receiving means 18 of the display part 2 reproduces the serial signal from the electromagnetic wave and a decoder 24 converts the signal to a digital value. A calculator 25 selects the concn. of the salinity corresponding to the digital value from a memory 26 which stores the correspondence table of the electrical conductivity and the concn. of the salinity and makes digital display of said concn. by a display means 20.
