PURPOSE:To obtain a large driving force quickly when a shift position is changed from a neutral position to a drive position during running, by controlling a speed position selecting means when the shift position is in the neutral position, and selecting a minimum speed position in a range where an engine speed is not overrun. CONSTITUTION:When a neutral shift position is detected by a neutral detecting means A during running, a select control means B controls a speed position selecting means C to select a speed position providing a maximum driving force in a range where an engine speed is not overrun. Accordingly, when the shift position is shifted from the neutral position to a drive position, e.g., a D-position as depressing an accelerator pedal, a large driving force may be obtained quickly only by engaging a clutch corresponding to the speed position as previously selected by the speed position selecting means C. |
