MANUFACTURE OF CYCLINDRICAL BODY PROVIDED WITH BELLOWS MADE OF FIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC

PURPOSE:To obtain a product of high accuracy and high reliability which is easily worked, and whose bellows is not damaged by a method wherein a bellows part manufactured separate ly is unified to a cylindrical part above a mold for molding the cylindrical part at the time of the molding of the cylindrical part and a protective jig is fitted to a fitting part of the bellows. CONSTITUTION:A bellows part 1 whose desirous properties have been satisfied by making fiber orientation different from that of a cylindrical part is manufactured beforehand, and is arranged by positioning on a series of molds A for molding the cylindrical part. A helical wound layer 3 is formed by winding a continuous reinforcing fiber 2 round the surface of the bellows part 1 and that of the mold A. The helical wound layer 3 is held down by forming a circumferential winding layer 4 of a resin impregnated continuous reinforced fiber on the surface of the helical wound layer 3 except for parts of crest and trough parts 1a of the bellows. The helical wound layer 3 above the crest and trough parts 1a of the bellows is cut off along an end face of the circumferential winding layer 4, to which a jig B is fitted. A second circumferential winding layer 4' whose end face comes into contact with an end plate b1 of the jig is formed above the first circumferential winding layer 4. The mold A is removed by heating and curing impregnating resin, the jig B is removed by dismantling the same and then an FRP cylindrical body 10 provided with the bellows is obtained.
