PURPOSE:To detect easily an abnormal file and to shorten the access time in a data control system using a pointer set to an index file, by facilitating the detection of the record that received an access when a power supply had a short break. CONSTITUTION:When an access is given to a data file 12 by a command given from a processor 1, a state control part 16 sets the state information 24 to an index code 22. Then the state information 19 is set to the code 22 after a pointer 21 which links the data 23 is set. The an access is given to the file 12. Thus the part 16 informs the record number 18 of the record 22 to the processor 1 when the record 22 is retrieved and the index record to which the information 24 is set is detected.
