Method for mounting a spring clip (snap-ring) for axially locking a roller, in which an axial retention ring, the clip (snap-ring), the needles and the roller are installed on a journal, characterised in that the ends of the clip (snap-ring) are moved apart, centring it on the axis of the journal, and then an axial thrust is exerted on the clip until it is received in a groove carried by the journal and substantially resumes its rest shape. <IMAGE>
