PRODUCTION OF CLAD MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To prevent the sticking of foreign matter to a clad material and the generation of the partial exfoliation thereof by making press-welding by using always a fresh lubricating agent at the time of longitudinally press-welding a bar of a belt-like good electrical conductor metal narrower than the width of a belt-like base material to the base metal surface of an alloy material by a multi-stage rolling mill. CONSTITUTION:The cladding surface of the belt-like base metal 1 let off from a bobbin is polished by a wire brush 5, etc., by which the surface is cleaned up. Such base metal is superposed on the bar 2 of the good electrical conductor metal let off from the bobbin and is rolled and press-welded by the multi-stage rolling mill to form the clad material 9 which is then coiled. The thickness of the base metal 1 is specified to about 0.2-1mm and the thickness of the bar 2 to about 0.005-0.1mm. The lubricating agent is blown from supply ports 10 onto the surface of back up rolls 7 and is wiped by wipers 8 so that always the fresh lubricating agent is coated between work rolls 6 and the materials. The clad material 9 which obviates the sticking of the foreign matter onto the surface and the generation of flawing and partial exfoliation is thus obtd.
