PURPOSE:To smoothly convey even a curled sheet of paper by separating a back faced sheet of paper among sent-in sheets of paper at a gate, bringing said sheet of paper into pressure contact with a guide roller and conveying it into an inverting means and, then, reversing said guide roller and discharging said sheet of paper. CONSTITUTION:Sheets of paper which are sent in are distinguished between the front side and back side by a distinguishing part 1, and sent out in between rollers 18, 21 by means of a conveying roller 3. When a sheet of paper is faced down, a gate 8 is positioned as shown in the figure, and the sheet of paper is brought into pressure contact with the vane of a guide roller 12, sent into a reversing part 10 and stopped by a stopper 11. Then, the rear end of the sheet of paper is conveyed in the opposite direction by the vane 14 of a guide roller 12, and discharged out in the direction of the arrow A by a confluent guide 13 and by means of rollers 19, 23. When a sheet of paper is faced up, the gate 8 is rotated leftward around a shaft 7, and the sheet of paper is discharged in the direction of the arrow A via endless belts 5, 6 and through the confluent guide 13. The length of the conveying passages for both front faced and back faced sheets of paper are kept equal, thereby, even curled or dog-eared sheets of paper can be securely inverted.
