PURPOSE:To enable stop indexing with a decelerating duration for high precision indexing with a simple structure by adjustably providing a detector for detecting passing by of a tooth-shaped portion formed in correspondence to each indexing position around the outer periphery of a rotary member integral with a rotary tool rest. CONSTITUTION:When a desired tool position of a rotary tool rest is to be indexed clockwise by a right detector to a vertically lowermost index position which is a position double 30 deg. leading in phase, deceleration of rotation may be started upon detection of passing a point A on a tooth-shaped portion 95 and the rotation stopped upon detection of passing a point B, or deceleration of rotation may be started upon detection of passing a point C and rotation stopped upon detection of passing a point D. In the same way, when a desired tool position of a rotary tool rest is to be indexed counterclockwise by a left detector to a leftward horizontal index position which is a position 30 deg. lagging in phase, detection of passing points E and F on a tooth-shaped portion 97 or detection of passing points G and H are used, and length of the decelerating duration is properly selected according to respective amounts of inertia to obtain accurate indexing. |
