PURPOSE:To provide a heat exchanger having a high reliability, permitting a direct connection between a medium pipe and a header and having no restriction in size by a method wherein a heat exchanger is comprised of a plurality of medium pipes forming a saddle part along an outer diameter of a header at its one end and the header having a plurality of communication holes, and the saddle part is connected to a communication port of the header. CONSTITUTION:One end of a medium pipe 7 is widened and a saddle part 8 is worked to extend along an outer shape of a header 9. Further, a communication port 10 is worked at the header 9 and then the communication port 10 is pushed against a medium pipe 7 and a circumference part of a contacted part between the header 9 and the saddle part 8 is connected with a connection member 11. At this time, since the header 9 is directly in contact with the medium pipe 7 at the saddle part 8 to be connected, so a reliability in operation is improved and a strength of the heat exchanger is increased. Also, it is only necessary for the connection part to be connected at one location of connection between the medium pipe 7 and the header 9, a length of the medium pipe 7 can be reduced, a position of the header 9 can also be easily lowered and so a material for the unit can be reduced.
