PURPOSE:To simplify an access to a disk medium with no conversion carried out by a converter by attaining a disk access via a personal computer even when no conversion of other OS. CONSTITUTION:A sector is defined as the minimum unit for access to a disk and the sector size is different by an OS. Therefore a sector ID is first read. The sector contains the information on the number of its bytes and a disk of MS-DOS, for example, is decided with 256 bytes/sector. While an OS of N88 BASIC, for example, is decided with 256 bytes/sector. Thus an access is given to a file by means of a program written to a BASIC medium access part 13 of the disk access part of a basic interpreter. In such a way, an access is possible with a disk medium with no conversion of other OS carried out by the personal computer and therefore no conversion of a converter is required. Furthermore it is not required to keep the same data as a different disk medium for each OS.
