TREATMENT OF SOLUTION ESSENTIALLY CONSISTING OF LOWER FATTY ACID OF LOWER ALCOHOL

PURPOSE:To decompose a low-mol. compd. and to effectively remove COD by irradiating UV rays to a soln. essentially consisting of a lower fatty acid or lower alcohol and injecting ozone thereto. CONSTITUTION:Several tens - several hundreds W.sec/cm<2> UV rays are irradiated to the soln. essentially consisting of the lower fatty acid or lower alcohol and the ozone of about 1-2 times equiv. the amt. of the COD to be removed is injected thereto. More specifically, the low-mol. compd. which is difficult to be removed by the conventional treatment with the ozone alone can be effectively removed by the ozone treatment making combination use of the UV rays; in addition, the effective removal thereof is executed by the low quantity of the ozone to be injected as low as 1-2 times the amt. of the COD to be removed. The irradiation quantity of the UV rays is considerable relative to the low quantity of the ozone to be injected, but the electric power consumption of the UV rays is extremely low as compared to the electric power to generate the ozone, in terms of the electric power consumption.
