PURPOSE:To prevent gas leakage by forming a separator in a bag inside which inactive gas is sealed, turning up portions of the separator located between a cathode and an anode in a wavy pattern to form passages, and forming swellings on the periphery between the cathode and the anode to form a sealing part. CONSTITUTION:When a fuel cell is operated, a fuel gas 22 passes through a space 11 and flows on the upper side of a separator 4. Since the surface of the space 11 is formed in a wavy pattern, a passage is formed between the separator 4 and an anode 3. An oxidizing gas 23 passes through a space 15 and flows on the lower side of the separator 4. Since the surface of the space 15 is formed in a wavy pattern, a passage is formed between the separator 4 and a cathode 2. When reaction of the fuel gas and the oxidizing gas starts, heat is generated, and inactive gas inside the separator 4 is warmed up and expanded. By expansion of the gas, a sealing part 8 of the separator and sealed portions 12, 16 are pressed against an electrolyte plate 1 to seal these portions. Therefore, leakage of fuel gas and oxidizing gas can be prevented. |
