PURPOSE:To discriminate a specific color in a real time, by providing an image pickup part and a chromaticity coordinates calculation part and discriminating a color showing a color pickup signal on the basis of chromaticity coordinates being calculated. CONSTITUTION:The title apparatus is constituted of an image pickup part 2 picking up a material 1 to be inspected to output a color image pickup signal, a chromaticity coordinates calculation part 3 inputting the color image pickup signal outputted from said image pickup part 2 and calculating the chromaticity coordinates in the chromaticity chart of the detected color (e.g., yellow) of the matter 1 and a color discrimination part 4 judging the detected color, for example, yellow on the basis of the calculation result. By this constitution, operational processing is performed according to a predetermined formula by the multiplying part 10, addition part 11 and division part 12 of the calculation part 3 and, at first, the image signal of the matter 1 is separated into three colors by a color camera 6 to be outputted. Next, threshold values are preset on the basis of the chromaticity chart by threshold value setting devices 39, 40, 43, 44 and AND operation is performed by comparators 41, 42, 45, 46 to discriminate yellow to display the same on a display part 5. By this method, an arbitrary color being indication can be discriminated in a real time without interposing software.
