PURPOSE:To correct the level of the reading signal of red and blue parts by providing two light sources with a different wavelength and lighting up only a first light source in the case of a black and white original and lighting up both first and second light sources in the case of a color original. CONSTITUTION:An image sensor 64 is electrically connected to a circuit substrate 66 and the first and second spot light sources (LED) 61a and 61b. As the first light source 61a, the source to emit the light of a red system with a high spectral sensitivity characteristic (high luminance) and as the second light source 61b, the source to emit the light of the low luminance of a green system (or yellow system) are used. The spot light source 61a always lights up at the time of reading the original, and the spot light source 61b lights up at the time of reading the original having the colorded part, namely, the parts (red and blue parts) described with a red pen or a blue pen. Thus, the reading level of the red and blue parts can be corrected.
