PURPOSE:To make the maintenance and checking easy and to improve the efficiency of heat exchange by arranging plural air flowing holes for preheating in a refractory formed on an under surface of cover and also arranging plural exhaust gas exhausting holes among the flowing holes. CONSTITUTION:The cover 2 of drying device 1 is composing of annular frame 4, supporting plate 5 and refractory 6, and in the refractory 6, plural air flowing holes 7 and plural exhaust gas exhausting holes 8 penetrating vertically are arranged. At the time of executing drying operation of a ladle lining refractory by injecting the combustion gas of a burner 3 into the ladle, after the burned exhaust gas heats the whole lower face of the cover 2, the exhaust gas is exhausted to outside from the exhausting holes 8. Then, the air sent to the burner 3 is preheated by the exhaust gas in the flowing holes 7. Therefore, separately equipping of the heat exchanger, chimney, etc., is not necessary, and the device is simplified and the maintenance and checking are easily executed. Further, by effective utilization of the exhaust gas, the efficiency of the heat exchange is improved.
