The invention relates to a peak pressure measuring and warning device with an electronic pulse-shortening circuit for measuring the peak and instantaneous values of respiration pressure. It is characterised by signal-linking circuits which are arranged in at least three series-connected gate sections of a two-way signal-level circuit and are connected to display panels of a display unit. The peak or instantaneous values of the respiration pressure, its overshooting or undershooting with respect to set limiting values, and undershooting of the minimum frequency of respiration are displayed in an optimum fashion with distinguishable warning effects by means of the ease of monitoring provided for anaesthetic or therapeutic respiration.
