PURPOSE:To enable abnormality of a knocking detector to be promptly detected with simplified constitution, by counting how many ignition times a reference level is continuously output in the same value to a predetermined value and providing an abnormality decision means which decides the knocking detector to be abnormal when the above counted value is not less than a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:A number of pulses, output from a comparing means when a waveform of a knocking detection signal exceeds a reference level, are counted, and the reference level is corrected by a control means in accordance with the above counted value. Simultaneously with the above, a control device, which detects the presence of knocking, controls a knocking control factor. While the control device, which discriminates by a counter means and by an abnormality decision means a movement of the reference level corrected in accordance with the counted value of the pulses output from the comparing means, detects abnormality of a knocking detector. Consequently, the necessity for providing any amplifier in exclusive use for detecting the abnormality of the knocking detector is eliminated. |
