PURPOSE:To obtain a simple and low-cost thermal head having enhanced heat radiation properties, by providing an insulating glaze formed on a substrate, a plurality of heating portions formed on the glaze, and a rugged surface reverse to that having the heating portions. CONSTITUTION:A metal substrate 1 consists of carbon steel, aluminum, or the like having a good processability and a mechanical strength. On a surface 1a reverse to a surface having heating portions of the metal substrate 1, ruggedness is formed either mechanically or chemically by sandblasting, dotting in correcting the waviness and warp of the metal substrate 1, etching, etc., or regularly by extrusion, drawing, or forging. On the metal substrate 1, an insulating glaze layer 2 (hereinafter referred to as an enamel layer) is formed by calcination. The metal substrate 1 having a good thermal conductivity disperses the heat built-up due to the heat of the heating portions, and the enamel layer 2 having high radiation dissipation properties enhanced the heat radiation properties. Moreover, a heat exchange area is increased due to the ruggedness on the surface of the metal substrate 1 to improve the heat radiation properties. |
