PURPOSE:To prevent the drying of a nozzle, by a method wherein a permeable material contacting the leading end of a nozzle with the open hole of a cap housing under pressure is mounted and the cap housing is filled with a thermoplastic substance receiving heat from the leading end of the nozzle to reversibly change from a solid to a liquid. CONSTITUTION:Permeable cloth 16 is mounted to the front surface of a head cap 6 and a cap housing 15 is filled with a thermoplastic substance 17 receiving heat to reversibly change from a solid to a liquid. The heating element 3 provided to the leading end of an ink jet head 2 is always heated during printing and, when printing is finished and the leading end of the nozzle of the heated ink jet head 2 is pressed to the cloth 16 of the head cap 6, the thermoplastic substance 17 at the pressed part is melted and exudes from the cloth 16 to cover the leading end part of the ink jet head. When the heating of the heating element 3 is stopped, the thermoplastic substance 17 is solidified to perfectly seal the leading end part of the ink jet head 2. At the time of printing, the heating element 3 is heated at first and the thermoplastic substance around the leading end part of the ink jet head 2 is melted and a solenoid 8 is subsequently excited. |
