ACID SALT FORMS OF POLYMER-DRUG CONJUGATES

Provided herein is a composition which comprises acid salts of water-soluble polymer-active agent conjugates, wherein the active agent in the conjugate has at least one basic amine group which contains basic nitrogen and is either protonated or unprotonated (as the free base), where a basic nitrogen-containing protonated amine group is an acid addition salt of either a strong inorganic acid or a strong organic acid, more precisely such as trifluoroacetic acid (TFA). Said water-soluble polymer-active agent conjugate has the formula (I)where n is an integer from 20 to 500, and where at least 25 mole percent of active agent amine groups are protonated as the TFA salt. The provided composition is suitable particularly for treating patients suffering from cancer diseases.
