The raisable and foldable partitioning wall comprises two parallel panels of flexible material, each consisting of horizontal strips (17) and with cross-connections (15) between the longitudinal strip edges of the panels. Lift cables (12) of equal length extend vertically between the panels and are secured to the lowermost cross-connection, whilst their upper ends are secured to a lift mechanism. This mechanism comprises at least one drivable (e.g. 9,10) transversely extending endless chain (8), to which the upper cable ends are secured above cable guide rollers (11) on a transverse beam (5) carrying the partition via short chains (16). The mechanism alternatively comprises a similar chain carrying rods of half the partition width on the two chain parts, whilst the guided upper cable ends of the two partition halves are secured to the rods. USE/ADVANTAGE - Partition wall in sports hall, lecture theatre, noise insulating partition in factory, fire protection partition, stage curtain etc. The arrangement ensures that the two panels are evenly raised.
