摘要 An alloy, a photoengraving article, a photoengraved article, and a method of forming a photoengraved article. The photoengraving article is formed of a magnesium-based alloy which contains from 2 to 4 percent by weight aluminum, an amount of calcium effective to improve the sharpness of an etched pattern on the article, and less than 100 ppm zinc. The method of forming the photoengraved article comprises the steps of etching the photoengraving article with a composition of nitric acid and a stearic acid additive. The article and method do not release zinc into the etching bath. Ultimate release of zinc into the environment is also reduced.
