摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To decrease the rate of unburned matter leaking from a packing material provided between a catalyst and a casing cylinder, by letting the packing material provided around the catalyst body carry the catalyst, by giving an elasticity to the packing material, and by making the resistance to flow of a permeable packing material larger than that of a catalyst body. CONSTITUTION:A number of burner ports 12 are provided on a catalyst body 11 of a grate form. The pressure loss of permeating gas is at the minimum because the burner ports 12 compose a continuous grate. The catalyst 11 is mixed composition of alumina, silica, magnesia, calcia, and others, and an oxidizing catalyst of platinum family such as platinum, palladium, rhodium or the other is carried on the surface of it. The catalyst 11 is held in an outer casing cylinder 13 by means of a packing material 14, and exhaust gas from a combustion part 15 flows into the catalyst 11, passing through a combustion chamber 16. The catalyst body 11 keeps its activating temperature by combustion exhaust gas. The combustion exhaust gas flowing into a catalyst chamber raises the temperature of a catalyst 11, and unburned matter in the exhaust gas is fired again. The rise of temperature is lower when the concentration of unburned matter is low, the higher the concentration of unburned gas is, the more remarkable the tendency is. The packing material 14 is composed mainly of a fiber such as alumina, silica, or the other.</p>
