PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer sheet for forming a transparent copy which can be detected through a phototube detection mechanism when being fed, by forming a marginal portion at a position corresponding to the circumferential edge of a transparent basic material. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer sheet 1 is composed of a transparent basic material 2, a transparent receiving layer 3 provided on the basic material 2 and a marginal portion 4 formed at the portion corresponding to the circumferential edge of the basic material 2. Polyethylene terephtalate film is employed most preferably as the material of the transparent basic material 2. The material for the receiving layer 3 includes saturated polyester resin, polyacrylic ester resin, polyvinyl acetate resin. The marginal portion 4 is composed of a print layer formed through printing or a marginal member adhered thereto. Consequently, when the thermal transfer sheet 1 is fed to a thermal recorder having a phototube detection mechanism, existence of thermal transfer sheet 1 is judged and registration with the thermal transfer sheet, selections of the grade of thermal transfer sheet, and the operation of printing mechanism corresponding to said grade can be made, and size, direction, and side, that is front or reverse, of the thermal transfer sheet can be judged. |
