PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer medium which can record a transfer image well, by forming a transfer layer having color variable with temperature directly or through a mold releasing agent onto a base film. CONSTITUTION:A transfer layer 3 having color variable with temperature variation is formed directly or through a mold releasing agent layer 2 onto a base film 1. The base film 1 includes resin such as polyester, polyamide, polyamideimide or polyethylene, or filmy material such as cellophane paper or glassine paper. When the base film 1 has a poor peeling performance against the transfer layer 3, paraffin wax, silicone, fluoro resin, surfactant, etc. may be applied to form a mold releasing agent layer 2. Ink or a coating composition containing heat indicative pigment, etc. is employed as a paint for composing the transfer layer. Consequently, a transfer image of a character, an illustration, a map, etc. can be recorded quite well with the color thereof being variable with temperature variation. |
