PURPOSE:To reliably execute gripping of a copy sheet by means of a gripper, by a method wherein a guide plate is rotatably supported through an axle, and the tip of the guide plate is disposed in a position allowing the tip to be engaged with the gripper when the copy sheet is gripped by the gripper. CONSTITUTION:When a copy sheet 5 is gripped by means of a gripper 4, and when the gripper 4 is stopped in a position shown in a Fig, a gripper body 7 and a claw 9 of the gripper 4 are unfolded by means of an opening and closing means, the gripper body 7 is secured to a tip 13a of a guide plate 13, and the claw 9 to a tip 19a of a plate 19 secured to a guide plate 14. As noted above, when the gripper body 7 is engaged with the guide plate 13 and the claw 9 is engaged with the guide plate 14, no gap is provided between guide plates 6 and the gripper 4, and the copy sheet 5 is reliably inserted between the gripper body 7 and the claw 9 by means of the guide plates 13 and 14. When a space between the gripper body 7 and the claw 9 is closed with the opening and closing means, the copy sheet 5 is reliably gripped by means of the gripper 4.
