PURPOSE:To minimize the malfunctions of the title cleaner by detecting the change in the output of a gas sensor to discriminate even the case when a main body functions by the breathing of a user upon the gas sensor from the case when the main body functions due to the contamination of air. CONSTITUTION:The gas sensor 26 for detecting the degree of the contamination in a room and a control circuit 28 for automatically operating the main body in accordance with the output of the gas sensor 26 are provided. When the output of the gas sensor 26 exceeds the set reference level plus a specified value, the operation of the main body is started by a timer means 30, and time counting is started when the output of the gas sensor 26 again decreases lower than the reference level. Furthermore, whether the operation of the main body is continued or not when a specified time is counted by the timer means 30 is determined by the output of the gas sensor 26 in a judging means 34. As a result, an air cleaner hardly malfunctioning can be obtained. |
