PURPOSE:To straighten a skewed sheet approximately in front of a resist roller as well as to remedy the skew to the full by the resist roller, by installing paper feed rollers independently drivable right and left and sheet tip detecting sensors in a sheet conveyor for a copying machine or the like. CONSTITUTION:When a sheet S is conveyed askew, a sheet tip is reached to a sheet tip detecting sensor 10, and a clutch 4 is turned to OFF in a moment, thus a paper feed roller 2 comes to a stop. Since a paper feed roller 3 is rotating, the sheet tip is reached to another sheet tip detecting sensor 11, whereby a clutch 5 comes off, and the paper feed roller 3 is stopped, thus the skew is almost remedied. After these paper feed rollers 2 and 3 are completely stopped, a clutch 7 is turned to OFF, successively these clutches 4 and 5 are turned to ON, and afterward, the clutch 7 is turned on again. With this sequence, these paper feed rollers 2 and 3 are simultaneously rotated, and thereby the sheet S is reached to resist rollers 13 and 14 in an almost nonskew state, then the skew is yet more straightened.
