PURPOSE:To double the capacity of introduction and delivery to and from a warehouse and to relax the limitation to the number of racks due to the capacity of introduction and delivery during shifting, by providing a pair of shifting devices which are adapted to be controlled independently from each other, on both sides of the rack. CONSTITUTION:An article conveyed by a conveying machine 18 is shifted onto an introduction and delivery station 16, and is then stored by a shifting device 5 into an empty shelf in a rack 11 where it waits to be conveyed. An article having been processed is transferred to an introduction and delivery station 17 by a conveying device 19, and is stored by a shifting device 14, temporarily in an empty shelf in the rack 11. Further, an article is taken put from the rack and is delivered to the introduction and delivery station 17 by the shifting device 15, and is then conveyed by the conveying device 19 to a production device. Further, the article temporarily stored in the rack 11 is delivered to the introduction and delivery station 16 by the shifting device 14, and is then conveyed by the conveying device 18 so as to be processed at the next step.
