摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the battery performance by providing an oxygen concentration sensor in the immediate front of an oxidizer electrode in an air supply system and a nitrogen-oxygen separator further upper-streamwise in the system to control the oxygen concentration in the air supplied to the oxidizer electrode, whereby concentration polarization is reduced. CONSTITUTION:Fuel 1 is modified by a fuel modifier 5 and supplied to a fuel electrode 11A through a fuel gas flow rate control valve 12, adjusting the CO concentration and surplus steam by a transformer 7 and a fuel gas steam separator 8. Also, air is supplied to an oxidizer electrode 11B from an air feeder 19 and electrical energy is extracted from the electrochemical reaction generated between both electrodes. An oxygen concentration sensor 31, which detects oxygen amount in the air, is provided at the immediate front of an oxidizer electrode in an air supply system and a nitrogen-oxygen separator 30, which separates nitrogen and oxygen in the air, is provided upper-streamwise in the system. The sensor 31 controls the device 30 by checking the oxygen concentration at the inlet of the oxidizer electrode 11B, to keep the oxygen concentration at constant in a controlling loop 32, so that the concentration polarization is reduced and the battery performance can be improved.
