PURPOSE:To permit quick and exact measurement of the amt. of the alcohol contained in a soln. by providing a means for evaporation, means for measuring a vapor concn. and a means for calculating a soln. concn. CONSTITUTION:The means for evaporation evaporates the alcohol component in a specimen by using a hermetic vessel which can house the soln., type specimen contg. the alcohol and is provided with a heat source. A gas sensor of a contact combustion type which brings the alcohol vapor obtd. by the evaporation into contact with an active part constituted of a Pt wire coil adhered with a metal oxide to burn the alcohol vapor and outputs the temp. of the alcohol vapor as voltage is used for the means for measuring the vapor concn. The bridge voltage of this sensor is set at >=6V and the surface temp. of the active part at 350-380 deg.C. The means for calculating the soln. concn. calculates the concn. value of the alcohol in the specimen from the resulted temp. value of the vapor.
