<p>In a mechanical/hydraulic shock-absorber system for motor vehicles whose shock-absorber axis (10) is capable of limited rotation in one direction and is supported in the shock-absorber housing (1) and connected through longitudinal or transveral arms, to the wheel suspension (13), the load on the wheels is absorbed by a coupling disc (8) connected to the shock-absorber axis (10), the counter-thrust surfaces (7) of the said disc being supported via rollers (6) on the axial thrust surfaces (5) of the stationary shock-absorber housing (1), and the coupling disc (8) being displaced axially against the force of a spring (12). The interior of the housing is subdivided into three oil-tight chambers (19, 20, 21). Two of the chambers (19, 20) are filled with shock-absorbing liquid and interconnected through valves (41, 42) and throttle cross-sections (23). Preferably the flow rate of the shock-absorbing liquid is adjusted by means of the respective axial positions of the coupling disc (8) and the piston ring disc (11). The spring (12) can be prestressed via the piston ring disc (11) by means of an external pump. The two parts of the shock-absorber (1, 10) can be rotated slightly in order to lower the car body against the force of a spring, by means of a servo-mechanism which acts upon the shock-absorber axis (10). The shock-absorbing liquid can extend when heated into a gas-filled chamber (28).</p> |
