A cutting tool for the removal of cable sheaths particularly optical cables, comprises a housing through which passes a bore (7) to receive a cable. A channel (13) is provided in the housing at substantially ninety degrees to the bore. Blade holders (11, 12) are provided in the channel (13) and may move through the channel (13), each blade holder (11, 12) being connected to a blade (9, 10) via a spring (18, 19). In use a cable (8) is driven through the bore via a lever operated drive pair (32, 33, 28, 29) which are provided in pocket shaped recesses (24, 25) adjacent the bore (7).
