Measurement of small leakage quantities - using variations of column height in connecting vessel with cyclically opened outlet valve

The height of the liquid column in a collecting vessel (2) is tested at regular time intervals. The effective leakage quantity is derived from variations in the column height taking into account the relevant boundary conditions. The vessel is cyclically emptied to a defined leakage value via a controllable outlet valve (7). When a predefined leakage quantity is exceeded only certain level heights are indicated and the outlet valve is held open. The leakage quantity not flowing out through the valve (7) is fed via an upper overflow device (6) to the outflow line. The valve is controlled by a microcomputer fed by an electrical level probe (4). USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for nuclear reactor, chem. industry. For small leakage quantities flowing not under pressure into collecting container. Direct indication of leakage using minimal number of moving parts.
