<p>A catheter (1) for insertion into preformed cavities (31) in the body comprises a flexible tube (2) and at least one channel (3) which leads from the proximal end of the catheter (1) outside the body to an opening (6) in the distal region. Arranged on the catheter is a temperature probe (8), the connecting wires (9) of which pass through the tube to the proximal end. In particular, in order to undertake diagnostic and surgical measures in the left portion of the heart and to monitor these measures, the temperature probe (8) is placed, in relation to the opening (6) at the distal end, facing the proximal end of the catheter (1). A dilatation balloon (7), which can be inflated from the outside, can also be arranged between the opening (6) and the temperature probe (8). Furthermore, in the region of the distal openings (6), it is advantageous to provide an additional temperature probe (17), as well as further opening (21) in the region of the first temperature probe (8). The physical quantities measured with the catheter are evaluated and displayed by an external system (34).</p> |
