Rotating sealing ring

The invention relates to a rotating sealing ring for sealing off the annular gap between a rotating shaft and a wall, through which the shaft passes, of a space pressurised by a liquid or gaseous pressure medium. The ring has no contact with the base of the seal groove and thus allows eccentric rotation of the shaft, which may be caused by bearing play and by flexure of the shaft due to external revolving forces, without being elastically deformed. The rotating sealing ring consists of flexible material and has an axially directed and a radially directed sealing lip. These are spread out from the body of the sealing ring and pressed against the side wall of the seal groove remote from the pressure and against the surface of the shaft by spring elements. The spreading forces generated by the spring elements are internal forces and are taken by the body of the sealing ring. The rotating sealing ring slides either on the seal-groove side wall remote from the pressure or on the surface of the shaft or on both surfaces.
