METHOD FOR INSPECTING BODILY FLUIDS.

A device for testing body fluids comprises a substrate on which are (a) an area contg. a test reagent; and (b) an area contg. a dye and intended as a colour reference to assess the colour change in the test reagent. Both of these areas are layers contg. a water-absorbing powder (e.g. inorganic material, cellulose or an ion-exchange resin) and a binder (e.g. a synthetic or natural polymer or resin) together with the test reagent or dye. A wetting agent may also be present, and the absorption capacity for water of the test and reference areas is matched to a ratio of 50-500% (pref. 100-300%). The ratio of water absorbing powder to binder is 100:3 to 100:30 by wt. (pref. 100:50 to 100:20).
