The invention relates to fluorophosphonic compounds of general formula: <IMAGE> in which RF represents a perfluoroalkyl radical, Q represents an oxygen or sulphur atom, n is an integer equal to 2 or 3, X and Y each represent a hydrogen or alkali metal atom, an alkyl radical or an ammonium group. The esters (X = Y = alkyl) are prepared by reaction of a 2-perfluoroalkylethanethiol with a dialkyl vinyl(or allyl)-phosphonate or by reaction of a 2-perfluoroalkylethyl allyl ether or thioether with a dialkyl hydrogenphosphonate. Hydrolysis of the esters gives the monoacids (X = H and Y = alkyl) or the diacids (X = Y = H) which are optionally converted to alkali metal or ammonium salts.
