Portable press for producing compression joints

A portable press for producing compression joints, especially between electrical leads, using pressing clamps and having a handle (1) which permits operation using one hand, a drive device (2, 3, 4) which has an electric motor (2) for displacement of the pressing tool (5) against the abutment (6) with the amount of force necessary for compression to take place. A battery (12) serves as a power source for the drive device (2, 3, 4). A manually operated additional drive (10) is provided for displacement of the pressing tool (5; 105; 305; 405; 505; 605) in that section of its displacement region in which no deformation of the object to be compressed takes place.
