PURPOSE:To improve the durability and lubricating performance in the captioned oil seal by forming a main lip with at least two laminated pieces of a pressure side lip and atmosphere side lip. CONSTITUTION:When an oil seal 1 is arranged in a shaft sealing portion, labyrinths 22, 23 as spaces having almost triangle sections (oil pockets) are formed between the circumference surface of a rotating shaft 4 and the tips of lips 11, 12. 13. When an oil pressure is applied onto an auxiliary lip 11, it energizes a pressure side main lip 12 and atmosphere side lip 13 so that the force to seal the circumference surface of a rotating shaft 4 to the main lips 12, 13 is increased so as to improve the sealing performance. In addition, the main lip has laminated layers comprising the pressure side lip 12 and atmosphere side lip 13 so that the pressure side main lip 12 is prevented from the deformation due to pressure by the atmosphere side lip 13 so as to prevent the contact area from increasing. Therefore, when the pressure side is pressurized, the pressure is imparted by respective contact surfaces of the two main lips 12, 13.
