PURPOSE:To reduce power consumption by means of a heating means for a fixing device by allowing the heating means to move, interlocking with the movement of a carriage with a recording head and thermally dry only an image forming area from the reverse side of recording sheet. CONSTITUTION:A heat generating element 15 is used to heat recording sheet 2 sequentially from the rear side of its ink sticking part and consequently, the ink dries to allow sequential fixing of an image (characters). The temperature control of a heating means 12 is, for instance, such that the heat generating element 15 is not energized during a standby stage and is energized to heat the heat generating element 15 only during a recording stage. The temperature control of the heat generating element 15 is performed by utilizing its own characteristics or detecting the temperature of the heat generating element 15 with a temperature detection element 16 to actuate a control element 17. In this way, ink is fixed by heating the recorded part locally, so that wasteful power consumption is reduced. |
