Frontal commutator for a rotating electrical machine, of the type produced from an annular blank 1 of conducting material in which are cut radial grooves delimiting the current-collecting segments (strips) 2, the bottom of these grooves being in the form of projections with respect to the useful face of the blank 1 corresponding to these grooves, the segments (strips) 2 are separated and anchored in an insulating body 7 suitable for being fixed to a rotor shaft by means of a metal sheath embedded in the said body, characterised in that a reinforcing and retaining ring 5 is assembled by crimping onto the internal face 1a of the annular blank 1 so as to form a one-piece subassembly 10 which, after overmoulding the insulating body 7 and machining bridging elements 3, once it is fixed to the rotor shaft, determines current-collecting segments (strips) 2 anchored individually to the said ring. <IMAGE>
