A device is described for sealing the connection between the stationary and the rotatable parts of drying drums, which consists of sealing segments which are arranged in the form of a ring and are in mutual engagement in an overlapping manner via radial surfaces and the inside of which is pressed against a cylindrical surface fastened coaxially to the rotatable part of the drying drum by a flexible arrangement which is under tension and which is supported on the sealing elements, the cylindrical surface being firmly connected at its edges, in each case via a ring, to the rotating part of the drying drum and, resting thereon, a wear ring is fastened, on which the inner narrow sides of the sealing elements rest, which are made from steel and in each case extend over an eighth of the circumference of the wear ring.
