PROCESS OF PRODUCING AN SO3 CONTAINING GAS FOR USE IN THE PURIFICATION OF AN EXHAUST GAS IN AN ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR

摘要

A process for producing SO3-contg. gas comprises burning sulphur in a furnace with blower-fed combustion air to produce high-SO2 combusion gas, passing the combustion gas through a converter for the catalytic conversion of SO2 in the presence of oxygen to SO3, and admixing SO3 to water vapour-contg. exhaust gas before puritying in an electrostatic precipitator. The furnace is fed with the sulphur in liquid form by a proportioning feeder and with the combustion air through an air heater.
