The invention relates to a device for the forced closing of the eyelids. In each case, a lid support resting upon the outsides of the upper and lower lids is used, the support being sutured to the upper and lower lid, respectively. The object of the invention is to arrange, on the lid supports, additional connecting means with which direct connection of the upper lid support to the lower lid support is possible. The connecting means are to be designed such that the tensioning elements (e.g. thread or clamp) interacting with the connecting means for the purpose of pulling the upper lid towards the lower lid to close the eye can be retensioned or exchanged (Fig. 5). <IMAGE>
