PRODUCTION OF CELL CAPABLE OF HIGHLY PRODUCING VITAMIN K1 BY TISSUE CULTIVATION OF IPOMOEA BATATAS L.

PURPOSE:To obtain cells capable of highly producing vitamin K1, by inducing calluses from a root tuber of Ipomoea batatas L. and subculturing the above- mentioned calluses which are being irradiated with light. CONSTITUTION:A root tuber of Ipomoea batatas L. is cut to a suitable size to provide tissual pieces, which are then cultivated to induce calluses. The resultant calluses are preferably subcultured in the presence of plant hormones, such as auxins and cytokinins, while being irradiated with light to provide cells capable of highly producing vitamin K1. Alternatively, adventitious roots differentiated by cultivating the calluses are also cultivated while being irradiated with light to afford the aimed cells capable of highly producing vitamin K1.
