PURPOSE:To make the best use of a characteristic of a high-conversion burner reactor without modification of structure of a reactor core and reduce the cost of development and construction by arranging two atomic reactors in line and equipping one reactor with function of a high-conversion reactor and the other reactor with that of a burner reactor. CONSTITUTION:A atomic reactor 13 is equipped with function of a high- conversion reactor and accomplishes conversion of uranium 238 into plutonium 239 beside heat generation caused by nuclear fission reaction of uranium 235. The other atomic reactor 13 is equipped with a function of a burner reactor and plutonium 239 produced in the high-conversion reactor 12 is burned. A fuel assembly 9 is stored in a fuel storage pool 10 once and charged in the burner reactor 13 to burn if necessary. |
