The two outer walls (1,2) of stiff insulating material, are separated around their peripheries by framework of sealed strips (5,6,7,8). These may have male or female profiles suitable for sealed attachment to adjacent panels. Air extraction connections (9) in the walls, or opt. in the side-frame, link up with adjacent panels, in series or parallel, terminating in the connection to a vacuum pump. The walls are stiffened by props (4) whose various lengths produce an outward curvature to the walls to increase resistance to external atmospheric pressure. USE/ADVANTAGE - For ovens, furnaces, refrigerators, freezers, living spaces and acoustic walls. Vacuum pump may be switched on by timer or pressure-probe to maintain low pressure and thereby give highest insulation for given thickness of panel.
